On June 10, 2005, TNT aired a six week television event produced by Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks.
Into the West told the story of the old west through two families, a white family from Virginia and a Native American, whose lives intertwine when settler Jacob Wheeler marries Lakota Thunder Heart Woman. The story is narrated by Jacob, who shares how he left home at sixteen to forge his destiny in the west. Into the West spans 1825 to 1890. The fictional Wheelers and Lakota families interact with many real life historical figures and witness events such as the gold rush, Little Big Horn, the building of the railroads and Wounded Knee.
Featuring an all-star cast including Matthew Settle, Skeet Ulrich, Tonantzin Carmelo, Keri Russell, Daniel Gillies, Rachel Leigh Cook, Christian Kane, Tyler Christopher, Jessica Capshaw, Michael Spears, Zahn McClarnon, Irene Bedard, Tom Berenger, Josh Brolin, Gary Busey, Russell Means, Alan Tudyk, Beau Bridges, Sean Astin, Craig Scheffer, Joanna Going, Tyler Posey and Matthew Modine
Into the West had over 250 speaking parts and was filmed in Alberta and New Mexico. This powerful epic was a masterpiece in storytelling.
