Book Review: Catalina and the King’s Wall By Patty Costello (@PatulaWrites) via @erinwise82

There once was a girl named Catalina and she lived in a kingdom making yummy delicacies for the king. She missed her family so much, however, they lived in another kingdom. While visiting the king with some cookies one day, he tells her how much he dislikes the kingdom her family lives in, and his plans of building a wall. Not wanting to be forever separated from her beloved familia, she comes up with a plan. Can Catalina stop the king from building a wall, keeping her family away from her?

This was an adorable tale, that I think many children will be able to really understand. It shows the solution might not seem logical but why not try anyway. The illustrations are marvelous. So many bright colors leading you from page to page, unfolding the King’s meanness and Catalina‘s determination.

It’s a great children’s book, that my own son read with me and loved dearly. The story kept us giggling while we read about Catalina’s outrageous ideas for the king’s wall. Catalina and the King’s Wall is sure to become a classic.

    1. Thank you. My son and I enjoyed it and he related it to some real world stuff he’s unfortunately had to see across the television screen. Dr Costello did indeed convey a very important message in a positive, engaging way. Thank you so much for your comment!
