Yellowjackets already had me. Completely.

Which is honestly kind of funny because if you had told me before this show started that I was going to get this invested in a series involving cannibalism, I probably would have told you absolutely not. That kind of stuff usually grosses me out enough that I’m out.

But Yellowjackets did it differently.

The characters kept me coming back. The story kept me coming back. The twists, the turns, the constant second-guessing myself because every single time I think I have something figured out, this show basically looks at me and says, “Haha. No.”

And apparently the final season decided that wasn’t enough.

Now we’re getting Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa and June Squibb.

Excuse me?

You already had me, Yellowjackets. You really did not need to do all this.

The fourth and final season premieres November 20 on Paramount+, and the official Paramount announcement⁠ says the survivors will be racing to bury their sins before rescue arrives. So yes, we are finally getting into the part of this story I have been dying to see. 

I Need to Know What Happened After Natalie Made Contact

Season 3 left us with Natalie finally reaching someone on the radio, and I need the final season to pick that thread up immediately.

Who heard her? What happened next? How long did it take for somebody to actually get to them?

And what happened when these girls finally came home?

Because we know the wilderness story and we know them nearly 25 years later, but there is this gigantic piece missing in the middle. These girls came back carrying some horrific secrets, and the outside world clearly did not get the full story about what happened out there.

Some kind of story had to be told. What was it? Who decided what everybody was going to say? Who struggled with keeping it buried?

And how the hell did they go from surviving that nightmare to functioning in the real world again?

Those are the questions I have been waiting for this show to answer.

And Now Devon Sawa Has Me Building Theories

PEOPLE’s first look at the final season⁠ gives us Sophie Thatcher’s teen Natalie alongside Devon Sawa’s new character, Howard, and that one photo immediately sent my brain into theory mode. 

Howard appears to be wearing some kind of official-looking uniform while driving a vehicle with warning lights on top.

So naturally, now I’m wondering whether Howard could somehow be connected to the rescue or what happened immediately afterward.

Could he be someone Natalie meets during that process? Could he become somebody she trusts? Natalie was already having a hard time with what they were doing in the wilderness, even when survival was the reason behind it. I could absolutely imagine her needing somebody outside that group to talk to once she got home.

And then my brain goes one step further.

What if Howard knew more than everybody realized?

Again, this is completely speculation. I could be spectacularly wrong.

Honestly, I probably am.

That’s what Yellowjackets does.

It’s the kind of theory Yellowjackets invites because they give you one suspicious little image and suddenly you’re building an entire board with red string. Then the show comes along and goes, “Cute. Wrong.”

And we eat it up every single time.

The Casting Has Been Ridiculously Good From the Beginning

Part of why I buy into these characters so completely is because the casting between the younger and older versions has been phenomenal.

For me, Sophie Thatcher and Juliette Lewis are the absolute standout.

Sophie didn’t just look believable as a younger Natalie. She got Juliette Lewis.

The mannerisms. The attitude. The energy. There were moments where it genuinely felt like I was watching the same woman at two different points in her life.

But honestly, all of these pairings have been ridiculously well done. The younger and older versions feel connected in a way that could have gone very wrong on a show built around two timelines, and somehow they nailed it.

Which makes these new additions even more exciting.

According to PEOPLE’s casting reveal⁠, Molly Ringwald is playing Vicky, Van’s mother, while Devon Sawa and June Squibb are among the other new faces joining the final season. 

Molly fucking Ringwald.

Devon fucking Sawa.

June fucking Squibb.

Come on.

But Seriously — Why Now?

This might actually be the question I need answered more than anything.

Why did everything start coming back to kick these women in the ass 25 years later?

They had decades.

Whatever happened out there was buried for decades.

Then suddenly the past starts tearing through all of their lives again.

Why?

What changed?

Who started pulling at those threads?

Was there somebody outside the group who knew more than we thought? Was there something tied to the rescue that never actually went away?

I have theories. Clearly.

But Yellowjackets has taught me not to get too attached to any of them.

And honestly, that’s why I love this show.

I never know what the hell is coming.

Now we’re heading into the final season, we’re finally approaching the rescue, the casting somehow got even more insane, and I need answers.

All of them.

Yellowjackets already had me.

Then they threw Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa and June Squibb at me too.

Fine.

Let’s end this thing with a fucking bang.
