Halloween Is Over. So Apparently It’s Christmas Now.

So Halloween is over. Which apparently means it is Christmas now. Not November. Not Thanksgiving. Christmas.

Like damn can we at least put the Halloween decorations away first? I swear the second midnight hits on Halloween everybody is like MARIAH CAREY. LIGHTS. TREES. CHRISTMAS MOVIES. GO GO GO. And poor Thanksgiving is just sitting there like umm…hello?

I actually like Christmas so I am not even hating on it. I love Christmas movies, Christmas lights, all of it. I am absolutely one of those people who will watch some ridiculous movie where a woman leaves her big city job, goes back home and somehow falls in love with a guy who owns a bakery, Christmas tree farm or some other weirdly specific small-town business.

Will I know exactly how it ends in the first ten minutes? Yes.

Will there probably be some misunderstanding that could have been solved with one normal conversation? Also yes.

Will I still watch it? Obviously.

But it is still funny how fast everybody switches over. One minute we are watching people get chased through the woods by masked killers and the next minute somebody is baking cookies while a handsome stranger fixes the town Christmas festival.

There is no transition anymore. Halloween ends and Christmas just kicks the door down like, “MOVE.”

And Thanksgiving gets absolutely screwed every year.

Thanksgiving is a whole holiday. There is food. There is family. There is football. There are pies. There is an entire parade with giant balloons. Yet somehow November starts and everybody just skips right over it like Thanksgiving is a commercial break before Christmas.

Stores are already putting Christmas stuff out before Halloween half the time anyway, which is honestly insane. You can walk down one aisle and see skeletons, fake blood and witches, turn the corner and BAM — Santa.

Sir, it is November.

Go home.

And I know some people put their Christmas tree up November 1. If that is you, live your truth. I support you from a safe distance while I am still finding fake spiderwebs stuck to things.

I just need a minute.

Let Halloween leave first.

Let me eat some leftover candy. Let the pumpkins start looking questionable. Let Thanksgiving have its little moment. Then we can bring out the Christmas lights and start arguing about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie again.

Because apparently November 1 is no longer November 1.

It is Christmas Eve: The Prequel.

And honestly?

I will probably have a Christmas movie on by next week anyway.

So I guess I am part of the problem.
