It’s the holiday season, when tons of baking takes place. Today I’d like to share with you my holiday striped(ish) cake. This was my first attempt, I thought it turned out well. The family really enjoyed it.
First, grab a box of white cake mix, the brand of your choosing as well as some red and green food coloring. Prepare your cake pans and preheat your oven to the temperature according to the box. Follow the directions on the box to make the batter.
Separate the batter into three different bowls equally. Sit one of those bowls aside, that one will stay white. Add red food coloring to one of the bowls, mix well, add more coloring if the Red is not red enough for your liking. In the last bowl, add green food coloring, mix well, add more coloring if the green is not to your liking.
If you have an ice cream scoop, it will make these next steps much easier, if not, a large spoon will do. Make sure to rinse the scoop between colors. You can put the colors in the order you’d like, I started off with white. Take a large scoop of white batter and drop it into the middle of the pan, do the same to the second pan. Take a scoop of red, a bit smaller than the white scoop, and place it directly on top of the white batter. Do the same to the second pan. Place a tad bit smaller scoop of green directly on top on the Red. Do the same to the second pan. Keep doing this process until all the batter is gone. The batter will spread itself to the edges of the pans as you place the batter, so no worries if it seems like it’s staying just in the middle at first.
Cook the cake according to the box. Let it cool, frost it the way you’d like with the flavor you prefer. Enjoy!!
