Metaphase #1 @ALTERNACOMICS Review from @kleffnotes

Ollie is the star of the limited series, Metaphase from Alterna Comics. This young boy with Down syndrome wants to have powers just like his superhero dad and he just might get his wish within the pages of this new release.

After being born with a heart defect, Ollie has gotten pretty used to surgeries and hospitals being a big part of his life, but at six years old things have gotten better. We then jump ten years into the future and Ollie is 16 and ready to become a superhero, but his dad insists that it just isn’t in the cards for him. Ollie learns about a brand new scientific endeavor that can unlike superpowers in those with latent genes, but there might be something more nefarious going on than even our young, possible soon to be hero, could ever have suspected.

This first issue sets up a lot about Ollie and his dad’s relationship and the work his dad does as a superhero. I am curious to see how some of the elements introduced at the end of the issue will evolve going forward. Hopefully Ollie either gets his own superpowers or I would even just be excited to see him become an everyday hero and help out without needing any powers. This is the perfect read for comics readers of any age.
