General Hospital’s Nurses Ball saved the best for last. On the episode that aired Wednesday, May 22, 2019, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) took to the stage and sang hers and Oscar’s song.
When Josslyn Jax (Eden McCoy) found out her boyfriend Oscar Nero (Garren Stitt) had an inoperable brain tumor, she loved and supported him as he came to terms with his mortality. Because of Josslyn, Oscar agreed to participate in a clinical trial to help shrink his tumor. Unfortunately, the trial didn’t shrink the tumor. It grew and Oscar’s time was shorten. He and Josslyn decided to live the final time he had left doing the things he always wanted, like seeing Niagara Falls.
But after one last seizure, a weak Oscar knew the end was near. He and Josslyn collaborated on a song together for the upcoming Nurses Ball.
Oscar finally succumbed to his illness. His family and friends were devastated. But he wanted those he loved to go on with their lives. Oscar asked Cameron (William Lipton) to record a video to Josslyn for him on Webber’s phone. In it, Oscar talked about his love for Joss and how although he was grateful for the time they spent together, he wished they had more. But he wanted her to go on with her life and live for both of them. Oscar asked Josslyn to go to the Nurses Ball and sing their song on stage.
Joss put on her gown and left for the ball. However once she was there, Ms. Jax was still uncertain about singing the song. Words of comfort from her stepfather Sonny (Maurice Benard) finally convinced Josslyn to go up on stage. “A List of Things To Do” was written by General Hospital director Phideaux Xavier.
The guests at the Nurses Ball were moved (as audiences at home) by Josslyn’s singing and touching tribute to Oscar.
As Josslyn, Eden McCoy has emotional depth in her acting that pulls you into the screen while watching her scenes. Eden has a promising career ahead of her. She was recently nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. Ms. McCoy is an accomplished volley player, actress and now singer. I see great things for her in her future.
