The CW may be the lowest rated of the five networks but in 2015 something changed. The entertainment world began taking notice. A show named Jane the Virgin gathered media buzz and its star, Gina Rodriguez, received accolades and awards. Superheroes led the way for The CW’s increase in ratings, thanks to Barry Allen and The Flash. Viewers also discovered that The CW could be funny with the additions of Significant Mother and Crazy Ex Girlfriend to the lineup. And zombies became cool, thanks to iZombie’s Liv Moore.
But perhaps the most amazing news The CW saw was the fan love and outpouring of social media response for a show called The 100. Created by Jason Rothenberg, The 100‘s tale of a survival in a post nuclear Earth quickly developed a large fan following and made Clarke, Bellamy and Octavia household names.
So, here’s to 2016. I can’t wait to see what surprises The CW gifts its audience.
