My life is about responsibility. To my sister and to my people. I am Bellamy Blake and this is my story.
Being born aboard a space station, known as The Ark, orbiting the Earth is not the ideal life for a kid. But what made it more difficult was a law that made it a crime to have more then one child as The Ark’s oxygen levels would decrease with more life aboard. My mother defied this law when she gave birth to my little sister, Octavia.
Poor Octavia, I tried to give her a happy childhood but hiding under a floor board every time the guards arrived for quarters check wasn’t easy for her. I know she was scared of having to go in that “hole” and my heart broke for her. I wanted to take away her pain.
I’ve loved Octavia since the day she was born. It is my duty and responsibility (there’s that word again) to protect her and keep her safe. But I want her to be happy too. That’s why I arranged for her to go to The Unity Day Dance.
Unfortunately, this turn out to be the worst decision I could have made and it cost our mother her life.
When Octavia was chosen as one of The 100 to go to the ground, I knew there was no way on Earth (no pun intended) that I would let her go alone. So I did something that allowed me to go to the ground as well. Something I’m not proud of but it had to be done.
We have been faced with many dangers on the ground. And have lost people. But in that loss, I’ve found something too- Octavia doesn’t need me to look after her anymore. She is a strong, determined woman. If you tell her I said this, I’ll deny it, Octavia is a warrior.
I’d be lost without Octavia, she’s my life.

Having Octavia in my life has made me a better man. There’s someone else that’s made me a better man as well: Clarke.
I don’t know what the future hold for our time on Earth but I’m glad to have these two strong women in my life.
I am Bellamy Blake and I’m proud of who I’ve become.
