WonderCon was this weekend in Los Angeles, California and while I couldn’t be there, I was glued to my Twitter feed during The Men of Orphan Black panel. Even though I couldn’t be there, I really wanted to know what was being revealed about the upcoming fourth season of Orphan Black and I was ecstatic when they announced the amazing news that there will be an after show.
During one of the trailer releases earlier this year fans learned that our beloved series would be moving to Thursday nights at 10 pm, which is actually great for me. I don’t know if any other Clone Clubbers had this issue, but I often had to watch the show later at night because of work conflicts and in some events random weekend storms that knocked out my satellite connection on some Saturday nights. It was like Orphan Black time was cursed around here, which I was definitely not okay with.
Now with the time shift I was curious if there was a reason that BBC America wanted to switch up nights and the announcement of an after show definitely made sense. Saturday is a big night for BBC America, but it’s often a night of test shows. Last year we had Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell airing right after Orphan Black and they have shown other new shows in previous years. Saturday was also Doctor Who night as well. With the Thursday move Orphan Black will now be able to take up an entire night, which makes me very happy.
The after show will be called, After the Black, and will run from 11-11:30 p.m. and will be hosted by Ajay Fry, Morgan Hoffman, and Teddy Wilson. These three hosts currently host InnerSPACE on the tv channel, Space. InnerSPACE airs Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. every week and does interviews with a variety of people while also doing some behind the scenes stuff. A similar set up will be used for After the Black. It was also revealed Tatiana Maslany, our clone actress, and Kevin Hanchard, Art, will appear in the first episode.
With what I’ve heard about season four so far this after show is going to be really cool. They will have a lot to cover and discuss, and I’m excited to see what sort of behind the scenes things we’ll get revealed to us.
