Over the weekend it was revealed by a number of entertainment sites that God is finally coming to Lucifer. With Mama Morningstar coming to Earth it seemed like the next logical step for the writers to want to bring the second half of the parental unit into the picture. The casting is what has made me even more excited for this new character.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Timothy Omundson, who I loved in Psych and Supernatural, will appear as a patient in a psychiatric ward, God Johnson. Lucifer will attempt to prove that this man can’t be his heavenly father, but this proves much harder than he first thought. Mr. Johnson will know far too much about Lucifer for him to be able to just brush him aside. The addition of God won’t happen until after the long hiatus planned after the current three episode arc.
I am very curious to see if this will lead to attempts at family therapy. Imagine Dr. Linda at the psych ward asking Lucifer to talk to his father or the man that he thinks might be his father. I’m also hoping that Mama Morningstar confronts God to try and see if he really is her husband. I’m just looking forward to learning more about that relationship so I really do hope that this is actually God or at least some sort of heavenly conduit. I’m sure there has to be a way for someone to channel God without God coming to Earth.
With a new episode airing tonight I’m also linking my recap video of last week’s episode in case you need to get caught up.
