While I normally don’t say you should judge a book by its cover, the cover of The Audacity of Sara Grayson immediately made me chuckle. For me this book falls into the cozy mystery realm of reads, which is something I love. Now technically if you are a cozy fan I am stretching the definition a bit, but this is still a read for mystery lovers of all types.
Sara Grayson is thirty-two and works as a part-time greeting card writer, but that is about to change. After the death of her mother she learns that she has been designated as the person who needs to finish her mother’s final novel. The wildly popular Ellery Dawson series is not something Sara had ever expected to have to take on, but with her dog Gatsby by her side she will have to try and take on what she thinks is impossible. After her husband left her she has been living alone and not really feeling like she can take on anything beyond trying to reset her microwave clock, but she is ready at least as ready as she can be. With an impossible deadline, a publisher focused on trying to sabotage her, and a family secret that could threaten everything Sara has her work cut our for her.
Joani Elliott has done an exceptional job with this mystery novel. I loved following Sara and the fact that the focus is working on mystery novel was the exact type of meta that I love in books. With so much happening that seems to be pushing Sara away from her goal it was great to see her grow as the story continued. Like I said this is a perfect mystery for any fan of the genre and you can pre-order your copy of The Audacity of Sara Grayson today.
