Confessions of a Bone Woman Book Review from @kleffnotes

Lucinda Bakken White shares her life journey in her memoir, Confessions of a Bone Woman: Realizing Authentic Wildness in a Civilized World. Beginning with her nature filled youth, she details her own evolution through changes in life and family. For those who wish to see the connection between themselves and the natural world her book examines finding your authentic self in a world full of distractions and deviations.

White began her life as a child raised in nature on a family farm, but when her mother remarried she found herself pulled away from that life. With a new emphasis on appearance and success she worked to be the perfect woman through diets, clothing, the expected job, but she found herself longing for something more. As challenges arose she sought out nature and began a journey that allowed her to become an Inner Wildness Guide. She connected strongly with animals, both living and dead, and in her memoir breaks down how each of these beings impacted her life and helped her to find her true self.

Confessions of a Bone Woman shows that if you allow yourself to see beyond the conventions of society you can create the life that you truly want. White was able to create a number of nature based programs, some of which still continue on through her current work. In this she found herself becoming the wise elder woman she always wished to be. Her examination of her life through connections to animals is interesting and shows a philosophical view of the world. I would recommend this book for those who are seeking to grow and change their lives.
