Blood Realm #1 @ALTERNACOMICS Review from @kleffnotes

Blood Realm #1 is the first in a brand new 3 part series from Alterna Comics. This first issue titled Dark Covenant introduces readers to a dark and deadly world where three supernatural beings must work together to stop a bloodthirsty villain from finding a sacred artifact full of power. This horror comic presents a world in shades of black, white, and red that is full of danger.

This first issue in the series provides a background for the chaos that have overwhelmed the kingdom of Voragoth. When her daughter became ill the queen of this kingdom sent her strongest warrior, Lycurgus, out to find a cure. What he found and used to save the princess led to the birth of a cursed being and everything about the kingdom changed. The blood that he spilled has brought about the demise of so many and with the evil forces of Saytrian Kingdom led by General Gorn trying to destroy this world something must be done. Three mystical beings known as the Sisters of Silence go out on a quest to thwart the general and in doing so meet our storyteller, Meek.

I absolutely loved the illustrations in Blood Realm #1. Within the black, white, and red inks the images that are presented blend elements that I recognized from images connected to the supernatural that existed centuries ago with bits of horror that escalate this work into something frightening. The background we receive is a terrifying fairy tale that warps the idea of a happy ending. I cannot wait to read more of this series and if you are a horror fan you will love this too. Keep an eye out for Blood Realm #1 in stores wherever Alterna Comics are sold.
