Exilium #1 @ALTERNACOMICS Review from @kleffnotes

With an action packed opening Exilium #1 drops you into a world of danger as we watch a trio comprised of two humans and an alien fighting off an attack. In this world an alien race has unknowingly brought their enemies to Earth and now their only hope lies with The Exilium. In this world that blends the human world with an alien history Alterna presents an interesting new look into the sci-fi genre.

Tr’u, Ken, and Nia are a team that works to protect Earth from invaders that followed Tr’u’s people when they escaped. Even as a child she was captivated by the arrival of these alien beings and in this issue a small portion is devoted to a flashback in which her mother explains how society became blended in the way that it is in their present. With their numbers dwindling the combined alien and human forces much reach out for help. Nia is sent by her commander to find what she can and she must work alone to try and save Earth, while her term and the rest of their forces battle an oncoming invasion.

Exilium #1 examines the idea of immigration briefly through the use of aliens as a metaphor and the issues that can arise within a population when new people become a part of it. Beyond this the science fiction elements are interesting and there is a great deal of humor used to make the oncoming danger a bit less jarring. The cliffhanger at the end will leave you guessing and if you enjoy space, aliens, or anything sci-fi based I think you’ll really enjoy this one. Keep an eye out for it wherever Alterna Comics are sold.
