Tello Films is bringing a queer holiday to our screens this season with a focus on three female/female romances. Season of Love, written by Kathryn Trammel, who was the winner of the Queer Holiday Pitch contest according to the fully funded Indiegogo page. Brought to you by Tello Films and Dash Productions, ClexaCon attendees may recognize some familiar faces in the credits as well as making brief appearances in the background of a festive party. Directed by Christin Baker, co-founder of Tello, and produced by Ashley Arnold and Danielle Jablonski, this film showcases characters that are left out of typical holiday stories. Everyone has a secret in this science-fiction drama. Passage is an episodic paranormal sci-fi drama centered around Janus Agent Ali Prader (play by Shannan Leigh Reeve) from Representation Matters Production and Tello Films. What is passage? Passage is resolution. When a ghost or paranormal being finally achieves resolution on Earth, he/she/they are finally able to move on and get “passage”. Every holiday season traditional and streaming networks create a ton of holiday romantic comedies, but they consistently fail to create meaningful stories from the queer perspective.
Production teams Tello Films and DASH Productions are going to solve that problem this year with “Season of Love”, their first queer holiday romantic comedy feature, to address the lack of any predominant LGBTQ storylines in holiday romantic comedy films. For my second Tello Films feature of the month I’ve actually chosen something you’ll be able to see at ClexaCon. As part of the Film Festival they will be screening their short, Alice & Iza. Both leads, much like with Nikki & Nora, have been announced as featured guests for ClexaCon 2019. Mandahla Rose plays Iza and is a returning ClexaCon guest and Guinevere Turner will be there for her first year and plays Alice. This short includes a number of other faces you might recognize including Bridget MacManus, Karmen Kregloe, and so many more. Every year ClexaCon hosts a Film Festival full of diverse LGBTQ+ content and I thought that for my two March Bi-Line articles I would feature some content from one specific company. Tello Films has been a partner and sponsor of ClexaCon since the beginning and this year they are bringing even more content to the convention. This week I wanted to highlight Nikki & Nora, a series that was resurrected by Tello after the original pilot was not picked up by a major network. While this series will not be showing at ClexaCon, the leads will be there. Continue reading “The Bi Line: Nikki & Nora @ClexaCon Feature from @kleffnotes”
The first Fangirl Freakouts filmed after my haircut, do not ask why I kept saying after ClexaCon. I had the pleasure of seeing Bridget McManus perform at Ships and Giggles, the comedy show at the convention, and I decided to check out her series with her wife, Karman, and another married couple Kristen Smith and Cat Davis. They might not be experts, but they have great tips! Find out my thoughts on the series, which you can watch on tellofilms and YouTube.
