Blaine Feels and #iZombie Worries from @kleffnotes

With today being iZombie day I thought I would share some of my feelings about the recent Blaine plot that has been unfolding this season. If you haven’t watched up to Pour Some Sugar, Zombie then this article will have some spoilers.

You might not know this yet, but Blaine is probably my favorite iZombie character. It’s really hard to pick a favorite on the show, but Blaine won my heart. He’s sort of a jerk and a criminal, but there is just something about him. Besides the fact that I weirdly have a thing for bleach blonde hair, I totally couldn’t pull it off, but on other people I normally think it looks amazing. Also it might be a hold over from my school days crush on Spike from Buffy. I mean I still think James Marsters is an attractive man, but him with that Spike hair, wonderful!

liv and blaine

In this season of iZombie we had human Blaine, who while still wonderfully sarcastic and nefarious, was just not zombie Blaine. Humanity changes a man, sort of like the difference between Angel and Angeleus. There are a lot of Buffy comparisons happening, it’s not intentional, I blame the hair. When Mr. Boss came after him I freaked out, even though I watch the episodes at 2 am on the CW site and frequently see some spoilers from the East and West Coast airings, I still felt like I was going to lose it when he had his throat slit. I knew he came back, but I couldn’t handle even the thought of losing Blaine.

Once he was zombified again I thought we were in the home stretch. He’d be fine, continue running his criminal empire, but curve ball happened. Blaine literally started dying because of an adverse reaction to the cure he and Major both had. He seemed at death’s door, until he took Ravi’s new cure. On the plus side, he lived, but on the super negative side he completely lost his memory. This horrified me, not just because Blaine was acting like a weird suburban version of himself, seriously he was like Stepford Blaine, but because this is one of my personal fears.  One thing that terrifies me in general is losing my memory and watching it happen to Blaine freaked me out a lot. I really need him to get better, and hopefully become an evil mastermind again. We have tonight and the double episode finale to see. I’m hoping he’s better before season three starts, I really really do.

  1. Really liked your comparison to Spike with Blaine. I also liked Spike and Blaine but not for anything physical. I just loved snarky, rogue, bad boy characters. I enjoyed Angelus more than Angel even though he killed (which was the thing I didn’t like). I hope Blaine gets his memory back too.

    1. I’m a huge fan of snarky bad boy characters too. I definitely agree about Angeleus over Angel, he was so evil, yet had some of my favorite lines.
