Tonight is the Lucifer finale on Fox at 9 pm and I thought that I would share some of my thoughts about what might go down in the finale. We got some pretty interesting hints in the previews for this week and based on those, and things that have gone down this season, these are things I’m hoping could happen.
In the teaser for the finale we saw that Malcolm has kidnapped Trixie and though he insists that Chloe come get him alone, Amenadiel and Lucifer get involved. I had a feeling Trixie would be critical to the finale. Back in episode one I mentioned that naming Chloe’s daughter Trixie was clever because it seemed like a reference to Dante’s Inferno. The Lucifer Twitter account commented on my tweet and said it was a nice catch. If you haven’t read or seen anything connected to Dante’s Inferno/The Divine Comedy, the main character Dante is traveling through three different levels of the afterlife and when he reaches Paradiso he meets his former love Beatrice. Having Lucifer looking for Trixie on Earth is a bit like having him go through the same sort of journey as Dante. So Lucifer and Amenadiel are doing some epic questing for personal and spiritual fulfillment, all because they are helping Chloe find Trixie.
Okay, so what I’m thinking is that while the brothers are fighting it out that Chloe will see just what sort of power Lucifer has. Though, this might backfire. Lucifer can’t be around her when he’s fighting or he could actually be injured, like killed injured. I’m thinking maybe he helps her save Trixie, but right at the end Chloe is near him and he either gets shot or stabbed and winds up in the hospital. I only say that because Chloe wound up in the hospital at the end of the first episode of this season so it would be a nice way to connect the beginning and the end of the season. I really do think Chloe will get to see Lucifer’s full power because I think that would bring their relationship to a new level.
We haven’t learned who broke out of Hell yet, but based on the reactions it had to be someone intense. I don’t know how much of the comics they are planning on using in the series, but there are some intense people mentioned hanging out there. Well, okay, hanging out isn’t really the best way to describe eternal damnation, but you get what I mean. I think this might mean a lot more work for Maze, even though she recently became friends with Trixie I could see her having to deal with the missing baddie from Hell while Lucifer and Amenadiel go looking for her.
I know this finale will be intense, there’s definitely going to be a lot of fighting and I think relationships are definitely going to be tested and changed by what goes down.
