Lightning Thoughts Book Review from @kleffnotes

When you need to recharge and just focus on yourself, Lightning Thoughts by Brooke Dabalos provides you with a variety of options for your own well being. After receiving her BA in Creative Writing, Dabalos began focusing on meditative practices and in this book she shares words of peace and growth to help readers examine themselves throughout their daily life. Beyond words she also shares activities, both written and physical, that can be done whenever you might need to do them.

Lightning Thoughts is broken down into four sections that blend together four different kinds of pages. These pages ask readers to do a variety of things, the last in each section is a cleansing page to help you prepare yourself to move onto the next section. The other three pages are connected with manifestation, healing, and insight. Manifestation pages are designed to be used again and again so that you can add to them and grow ideas that you have written down there. Healing pages are little exercises that prompt you to do something physical like light sage or even take a shower with salt. Insight pages are full of positive words designed to help you connect and feel seen.

As a creative writer and someone trained in meditative practices Dabalos presents material within Lightning Thoughts that feels so relatable and peaceful. You can read through the book in order or skip around as you see fit, which gives you the flexibility to do the activities that are best for you in that moment. The page to grow ideas was my favorite and gave me an opportunity to really focus on what I want. I also really enjoyed the fear monster page that allowed me to think about the things that have been holding me back. Lightning Thoughts is a relaxing and useful read for anyone looking to grow spiritually and emotionally.
