2018 is drawing to a close and if you are spending your evening by yourself or with others I thought I’d share some suggestions for how to celebrate the day in some capacity. No matter what your day looks like with the year ending there are a number of ways you can ring in a new year, even if you aren’t actually up or free at midnight.
Plan a binge session or marathon: My first suggestion is for those who are going to have the whole day free or even if you might not be completely free, you at least know you are going to have a bit of down time. Whether you are more of a tv or a movie fan you can hunker down and either watch some of your favorites or find something new to watch. This year my girlfriend and I plan to binge the new season of The Runaways with my best friend. You could do that or you could check out any of the other shows or movies you have in your variety of lists. I recommend finding something new, but it is always fun to enjoy an old favorite.
Invite people over to play: Every year my family plays games on New Year’s Eve. Typically we pull out a bunch of board games and card games and just see what everyone wants to do. For this year we have some new games to check out and we are planning on trying out at least one. You can invite over any number of people and either try a new game, pull out some of your childhood favorites, or you could even try a role playing game for the first time.
Spend some time in the kitchen or behind the bar: Today is the perfect day to try out a new recipe. Now you can take this however you want. If you are looking for something sweet try baking something. If you want to try something more meal sized look into a new sort of dinner. You could also try your hand at mixing a cocktail. That last one can be fun especially if you have people over or are hanging out with people. Even if you don’t normally mix drinks you can just see how you do.
Get crafty: The last suggestion I have is to see how creative you can get. Today is a great day to try and make something crafty. You could make a new decoration for your house or maybe even see if you can add something to your wardrobe through knitting or crocheting. There are so many projects online that I am sure you can find something to help you add a little bit of creativity to your day.
