The midseason finale of Arrow was jammed packed full of action after the crossover event to introduce Legends of Tomorrow. Now we’re left wondering the fate of one of our favorite characters….
It’s Christmas time and Damien Darhk made sure he was the center of the show. Oliver dragged him out from behind the shadows in the public eye after an attack on the gang as they were working with children. (What’s up with all these shows attacking children with guns and bombs). Of course this didn’t sit well with Darhk, he totally lost his cool staring at Ollie’s face on that tv. That’s where we knew this episode was not going to end well.

Felicity’s mama found the engagement ring Oliver was going to give her a few months earlier and showed Felicity. Understandably he put that question on hold to take care of the Darhk problem.
At Oliver’s holiday party, Felicity struggled to keep the fact that she found the ring secret. She ended up saying something to Ollie and pretty much told him, had he had asked, she would have said yes. And that’s when all hell breaks loose. Darhk crashed the party and took the rest of Team Arrow hostage. This led into some team-ups, that were a nice little surprise..?
Oliver turned himself over to Damien to save his team. Darhk gave him a nice little tour of his gas chambers…..with the team right inside. Seeing Ollie try desperately to break that chamber while Felicity mouthed the “I love yous”and the rest of the team was slowly dying was unbearable. Just as you think all hope is lost, Malcolm, dressed in the green Arrow suit, and Laurel swoop in. Laurel used the Canary Cry to break the glass and save Team Arrow from certain death. So that Canary Cry can do something besides annoy my poor little ear drums. A nice little battle between Malcolm and Oliver against Darhk ensued. It ended with Darhk on the floor and Ollie and Malcolm thinking they had destroyed their foe. Of course with the incantation he whispered, it let us know he wasn’t gone for good.

We did get to see Malcolm and Andy is a couple of scenes together, which offered us some insight into the loyalty of Darhk’s Ghosts to Darhk. Andy still isn’t saying nothing about his leader, probably more because of fear than loyalty…I guess time will tell.
Team Arrow heads back to the holiday festivities and we finally get some happiness from this episode…though it was short lived. Oliver makes a little speech and calls Felicity up next to him, where he drops to one knee and proposes to her. She obviously said yes, as we know how much she loves him and he loves her. It was nice to see their relationship take the front burner for a little bit.

Oliver and Felicity leave together in a limo. We see them so happy, so in love….just when you think things were ok, the limo is surrounded. Ollie’s limo is lit up like the fourth of July, as the fandom is holding their breath. After some quick thinking Ollie gets the limo out of there, unfortunately it was a little too late. Oliver pulls a bloodied unconsious Felicity out of the car and into his arms. We will have to wait until January to find out Felicity’s fate. Can you hear me sobbing, listen closely…..the tears are falling.
So now, we know Darhk’s plans, wiping Star City off the map, making it a place where HIVE and any allies can rebuild. We also learned that Damien did in fact survive the fight and he has a family…yep a wife and kid. Could that be something Arrow could use against him if pushed far enough???? I guess only time will tell with that one. As for this midseason finale, I have to say Darhk got to the heart of Oliver. I cannot wait for January after that cliffhanger.
