Being on Twitter, you meet a lot of people, from all around the world. You meet people who do all kinds of things.
Recently, I stumbled across a Superhero. Yep, that’s right a real live superhero.
After following him on Twitter, I checked out his Periscope. He introduced himself, told us what his goal was, and took us out on a couple adventures. He is truly inspiring. He is teaching us, anyone can be a hero you just need a good heart.
After watching him, listening to his goals, his thoughts, I wanted to share him with you guys. I contacted him and asked if I could interview him to give all of you a chance to meet him. To get to know what he is all about. He agreed.
Let me introduce Thunderbolt:
1.) As a new hero, what made you come out now?
Well, as everyone knows there is lot of bad stuff going on in the world at the moment so people, more than ever, seem to need a hero, but not just for the big things. I’m not claiming to be able to stop war, I’m talking about the small stuff, the everyday things to make people feel more positive about life.
2.) Who/what inspired you to become a superhero?
I can’t really say that any particular thing inspired me, I’ve always been into super hero’s like comics and movies and stuff and I’ve always had this idea that you could still be hero but in the smaller sense. Not just by having powers.
3.) Who are your superhero influences?
Well, Thunderbolts obviously, they were my first super hero favourites. I liked that they were like reformed criminals. My dad used to collect the comics so he’s kind of passed it down to me. But now I like Spiderman, not very original I know but what can I say he’s cool!
4.) Do you have a superpower?5.) If you could have any power, which one would you want?
I’m lacking in super powers at the moment but if I had one I’d want to be able to time travel or alternatively I’d make a time machine like the DeLorean.
6.) Do you have a team that helps you out back at the secret lair?
I do have a team! But they aren’t very helpful, I tried to get them to help me with my superhero costume but as we have all seen it didn’t go so well but they did agree to help me with my filming on periscope so that’s a start!
7.) How did you come up with the name Thunderbolt?
As I said before I was inspired by my childhood superheroes Thunderbolts so I thought it be fitting to use Thunderbolt as my name.
8.) What’s your main goal/mission?
My main goal is to help people; I want to make the small things in peoples lives easier and nicer so that they can deal with the bigger things. Everyone will have experienced the feeling of all the little things piling up and then all of a sudden everything gets too much to handle. My aim is to help remove the small worries and hopefully that will make day-to-day lives less stressful.
9.) Do you hope to inspire other people?
Yes, I do hope to inspire people. Using the idea of a superhero kind of exaggerates my point of helping people, I want to inspire people to do the same (not dress up as a super hero specifically but that would be awesome!) and just do more to help people, and more appreciative of people who do help them.
10.) How did you create your image/costume?
Well as you know I made my own costume. I started with purple, admittedly because I like the colours and red because it seemed quite supero-like and then I did the classic pants over tights, what kind of superhero would I be if I didn’t??
11.) If we needed a superhero, where can we find you roaming around, helping people?
I live in Lincoln, UK so if anyone is in the area and you see a guy dressed like a superhero its probably me!
12.) I loved watching you on Periscope, are you planning on filming every time you go out?
The Periscope thing was just a one week thing, as an experiment to see what kind of response I get and it seemed to go well. I haven’t used periscope much before but what I’ve seen on it is mostly people driving around and taking drugs! So I thought maybe people would be interested in watching something a little more exciting! I’m not sure if I’m going to broadcast much more though, it seems twitter has been more useful for spreading the message but I will most likely be broadcasting tonight to have a chat with people and see what they think about it.
13.) Is your partner behind the camera your very own Jimmy Olsen (Superman)?
My partner behind the camera is one of my friends I’ve convinced to join in!
I was so excited and extremely happy to do this interview. As you can see, Thunderbolt has a wonderful message and goals. I think Thundebolt is amazing, he has definitely inspired me to be kinder. Just yesterday I went to the grocery store, I usually keep to myself, get my items, then get the heck out of that mad house, but instead I helped an older woman gather her groceries and helped her to her car. It wasn’t much, but like Thunderbolt said little things make a difference too.
I was actually talking to my 10 year old this morning about Thunderbolt, telling him about kindness and helping out whenever you can. He asked if Thunderbolt had powers, I said yes, yes he does, he has a kind heart and that is the most important power anyone could ever have. He looked me straight in the eyes and said, Thunderbolt is like Batman, he can’t fly, he doesn’t have super strength, he can’t heal himself, but he still goes out and tries to help anyone he can. I couldn’t agree more.
I really hope you guys check Thunderbolt out and I hope he inspires you as he has inspired my son and I. You can find him on Twitter @_thunderbolts, and check him out on Periscope.
