Liz Birdsworth is the appointed mother hen of Wentworth Prison. She’s always ready to lend an ear to prisoners and offers support to those in need.

Liz Birdsworth was a wife and a mother. But Liz was also an alcoholic and unfortunately, this addiction is what got her sent to Wentworth Prison for manslaughter after driving recklessly while drunk.
Since Liz’s imprisonment ended any chance for her to watch her own children grow up, she became a surrogate mother to charges at Wentworth, especially fellow prisoner Doreen Anderson. Liz also became a Peer Worker to the prisoners as she was a trusted member of the prison community.
However, she betrayed that trust when she told Governor Joan Ferguson about Franky Doyle’s drug trafficking. Her actions almost cost Bea Smith her life as Franky and her crew sought retailation believing Bea to be the snitch.
Fellow prisoner, Boomer received an additional seven years to her sentence for the false information and vowed payback.
Liz tried to adjust to life on the outside once she made parole but connecting with her family proved harder than she thought. Additionally, Liz was a casualty of Bea’s vendetta against Braeden Holt for the murder of daughter Debbie and ended up back at Wentworth when Bea used Liz to carry on her plan.
Liz’s nature and her attempt to do what’s right has put her on Franky Doyle’s and Boomer’s hit lists but regardless, Liz’s kind soul will never stop her from helping others.
