Here at the Nerdy Girl Express, we have been highlighting the amazing guests that WishCon is going to have at its convention Nov 18 – 20. I have the pleasure to tell you that the talented and popular Claudia Christian will be there. You may know her best from her role as Commander Susan Ivanova from the popular sci-fi space opera Babylon 5, but that isn’t the only role or profession that Claudia has had.

Starting her acting career in 1984 Claudia has been dominating our shows and movies since then. Now she has over 125 acting credits to her name, some highlights are Berrenger’s, The New Mike Hammer, The Highwayman, The Hidden, Hexed, Babylon 5 (show and movies), Freaks and Geeks, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Broken News, Starhyke and Look. She has also had guest appearances on tons of popular television shows and is still going having recently completed the not yet debuted Cozmo’s, Chicanery and The Pipeline. She is also in pre-production for a new TV series called Runestone.

 

These credits don’t include her stints being a producer (One Little Pill), writer (The Audition) and director (The Audition, The Heartbreak Café). Not to mention her dozen of credits playing herself in various shows and documentaries. She even has a soundtrack credit for performing ‘The Merry Old Land of Oz’ in Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz.

Speaking of music did you know that Ms. Christian is an accomplished musician, being able to play the piano and guitar? She also has an amazing singing voice and has had four albums (Claudia Squared, Trying to Forget, Once Upon a Time and Area 51) where she was also the songwriter and had a hit single ‘Taboo.’

Voice over work is another field that Claudia excels in; you may have heard her in these video games among several others: Shrek 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, Halo 4, Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void and Fallout 4. She has also been the voice of Jaguar in many of its commercials.

The talent doesn’t run dry yet as Claudia is also a published writer. She has written Revenge is a Bitch to Swallow, Babylon Confidential: A Memoir of Love, Sex and Addiction, My Life with Geeks and Freaks and a series of children’s books called The Misadventures of Miss Emma Bradford.

I could keep going about this woman’s talents and accomplishments (amazing cook, fluent in foreign languages, has her own website claudiachristian.net) but I think you get the picture by now, Claudia Christian is a modern day renaissance woman and you would be a fool to miss her at this years WishCon in Columbus, Ohio. To celebrate her and other amazing women, the convention runs November 18 – 20. Its purpose is to celebrate the women who are apart of Sci-fi, horror and fantasy. Not only will Claudia be there, but so will several other guests where there will be meet and greets, panels and photo-ops. There is more though with all the cosplay contests, nightly parties, special events for kids and the many, many vendors from local and afar that you will be able to see, buy from and enjoy.

 

How can you get in on this? The creators of WishCon have made it easy on you. You can check out their website and twitter account. They have an Indiegogo campaign going on now for about two more weeks to help fund it and to let you as a con-goer get some amazing discounts and deals on merchandise, weekend passes and special prizes – not to mention giving to charity on top of it. Still need an incentive to go? How about another big discount at the Hilton where the convention is taking place? Everyone knows having to drive to cons can be a pain because of high traffic and if you’re dressed as your favorite character all the possible wardrobe malfunctions.
