What kind of life can you have when you are born into a violent mob family? One of crime, violence and murder as Wentworth viewers learned from watching Brayden Holt.
This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen Wentworth, please do not continue reading.
From the time he was a little boy, Brayden Holt had a front row seat to his crime family’s deadly operations. He even witnessed his mother Jacqueline (Jacs) murder a family friend for betraying his father. Even though she was sent to prison, Jacs continue to control Brayden’s life. Whereas most mothers would keep their children away from the ugliness of crime, Jacs seemed to encourage Brayden to pursue the family business. He was heir apparent to the Holt crime dynasty.
As Brayden grew up, it was obvious that he himself had committed his own crimes. As revenge against Bea Smith, Jacs ordered her son to befriend Bea’s daughter, Debbie. After Brayden had gotten Debbie to fall in love with him, Jacs then demanded he kill her. He initially balked at this as Brayden had fallen in love with Debbie. However like a dutiful mob son, Brayden complied and shot Debbie up with a lethal dose of heroin.
Brayden had now made an enemy of Debbie’s mother, Bea who vows he would die. First, she tries to get Harry, Debbie’s father to kill Brayden. But Harry’s attempts prove unsuccessful and earns him a beating from Brayden’s thugs. Don’t send a father to do what a grief-stricken mother can do better. Bea manages to escape from prison and tracks Brayden down. She is close to shooting him to death but Will Jackson is able to talk her down from the murderous act.
But Brayden’s smug look as he is walking out the room earns him a bullet to the brain. Another young life wasted.
