It was the Battle of the Lawyers on Crazy Ex Girlfriend as Rebecca Bunch faced off against her longtime nemesis, Audra Levine in court.

This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen the episode “Josh and I Go To Los Angeles,” please do not continue reading.

Remember that kid in school who you were always in competition with? Well, Audra Levine is that kid for Rebecca Bunch.  Audra had to be better than Rebecca in everything. Viewers were treated to a flashback showing Audra and Rebecca as children during a time when Rebecca got a higher test score than she did.  And according to Rebecca’s mother, Audra has the life she could have had if she had stayed in Manhattan.

Audra took the job that Rachel turned down when she moved to West Covina.  Now, Rebecca has to go up against her former law firm in the Greater City Water claim.

Crazy Ex Girlfriend did an excellent job showing how Rebecca used to be Audra, right down to Audra’s appearance when she was introduced in the episode.  She looked exactly like Rebecca did in the pilot.

But perhaps the best scene of the entire episode was the rap inspired “Jap Battle” pitting the two determined Jewish lawyers in a battle to determine legal superiority.

I enjoyed our first chance at seeing legal eagle Rebecca in court.  Even though she lost the case, Rebecca earned the respect of her clients who openly saluted her in court. She also gave Audra sound advise: Take time to be happy.

Crazy Ex Girlfriend continues to amaze. Great songs add to the strong message of the episodes.
