Xiomara “Xo” Villanueva has spent her adult life being a young mother to her daughter, Jane, who she gave birth to while still a teenager. But now that Jane is an adult and a mother herself, what does the future hold for Xo?

This is the question Xo currently faces.  Although she was recently reunited with her first love, Rogelio, they haven’t found their happily ever after yet. Rogelio wants to spend the rest of his life with Xo.  She does too but the complication is that Rogelio wants a traditional life including marriage and children.  Xo has no problem with the marriage part, she just doesn’t want to become a mother again at 40.

This is not surprising.  Most women who have children early in life look forward to the day when those children grow up so they can begin to concentrate on themselves without the stress of caring for a baby.

Xo never really had the opportunity to focus on her singing career while Jane was a child.  Now, she’s getting noticed for her musical talents. She believes that if has a baby again, her dream will be over.

I think that Rogelio would offer Xo as much support as she needed with childcare while she pursued her singing,

Xo’s decision is a difficult one in that I can see both viewpoints.  Rogelio wasn’t around when Jane was a child and wants a baby to experience this with the woman he loves. But should Xo’s pregnancy be a deal breaker for their life together? The writers have done an excellent job in illustrating Xo’s tough choice.
