Shannara’s season finale was last Tuesday. We lost some good characters, but in the end…it was beautiful.
It’s still up in the air on whether there will be a season 2 or not, but I’m hoping there will be.
Seeing our trio make it to Safehold was thrilling. They’ve made it so far, through so many obstacles. Eretria’s blood was the key to get Amberle into the blood fire.
Unfortunately, Eretria lost too much blood. Poor Wil, doesn’t know what to do. Amberle is gone, vanished in the blood fire, and Eretria lay dead in his arms.
On the inside of the blood fire, Amberle finds herself on a beach, with a woman standing further down from her.
As Amberle approaches her, she sees the woman is her. Amberle is told she is the seed, she must be willing to sacrifice herself, give up Wil, in order to save…well the world.
This girl has found someone she loves so much and she’s not ready to give it all up.
Wil begs Eretria to come back, tries to will her back to life. He then remembers the elfstones. He uses them on her and brings her back to life and tells her what happened to Amberle.
She jumps up and uses her blood to open the blood fire back up to get Amberle back. The love and friendship these three have is very beautiful.
It’s too late though, the last leaf has fallen and the demons and Dagda Mor are on their way to destroy the elves. And during all of this, a Member of the Council is trying to overthrow King Ander as she doesn’t see him fit to rule at this time.
King Ander sets up his game and makes an alliance that locks him as the King for good.
Not too mention gives him more of an army to take on the Dagda Mor.
As Wil, Eretria, and Amberle try to make it out of Safehold, they find that they must split up, to keep from being killed by trolls. Eretria stays behind as she orders the other two to get back and save the world. As much as they don’t want to leave her, they do, but not before Wil promises to come back for her once they save the world.
Amberle tries to comfort Wil before they head back to the kingdom.
Bandon has been taken over by evil. Knew that was coming. He likes being powerful. He made that clear with Allanon. But this time to escape, he manipulates the only one who trusts and loves him.
After he beats a guard completely to death, I think she gets the point now that just because you love someone doesn’t mean you can trust them.
He gets away but you know, right now these elves have bigger fish to fry. These demons are right there ready to attack, ready to destroy what’s left of the tree, and every single elf in the world.
Amberle and Wil come upon all these demons and find a cave to hide in til night falls and they can make it to the tree and hopefully end all of this. Amberle finally realizes what she must do, though she keeps it to herself. Instead she just wants one perfect time with Wil. They make love knowing this may be the last time they have together.
Both sides ready their soldiers for battle.
Wil and Amberle male their way to the tree getting pinned down by demons. Even using the elfstones, the demons were too much. Thankfully Allanon and allies find them and lead them to the tree.
This is where things get really hairy, especially for Ander. As he watches his love fall dead in front of his eyes. Then had to fight his turned brother. After freeing Arion from the evil hold, Arion begs for Ander to release him. It was heartbreaking to watch Ander go through this once again.
Now Allanon, Wil, and Amberle have to face the Dagda Mor. Allanon takes him on as he urges the young elves to get to the tree.
Amberle now has to tell Wil that she is the seed. He doesn’t want this, but she must fulfill her destiny. The Dagda Mor is now in the sanctuary fighting Allanon, but Allanon is failing. Good ol Wil and the elfstones come on in and help out.
Amberle steps into the tree, and the tree becomes whole again. The leaves come back, the demons turn to ash. Everything bad just stops. The tree is a beautiful sight.
The next day, Wil begs Amberle (the tree) to speak to him. Allanon comes in and tells him she’ll speak when she’s ready. He knew Allanon knew she had to sacrifice herself and he’s not happy about it.
Allanon then goes and speaks with King Ander. Ander is very upset over killing his brother. But Allanon and him talk. Long live King Ander.
Bandon has now gone to where to Dagda Mor lived. Guess who’s the new evil?
Allanon finds Wil packing his horse. After a few words, we learn Allanon knows there’s a new evil, Wil is coming back but he first has to keep his promise to Eretria. He sets off to get her.
I thought they ended the season perfectly, especially not knowing if there will be a season two or not. We have enough to keep us satisfied, though we do want more.
