#CrazyExGirlfriend ‘s Valencia:The Queen Bee That You’ve Always Wanted To Be via @stacyamiller85

When I interviewed Gabrielle Ruiz for The Nerdy Girl Express, one of the questions I asked her was “If you had to describe Valencia to someone who never heard of Crazy Ex Girlfriend, what would you say?”  Her response was quite simply, “The Queen Bee that you’ve always wanted to be.”

This to me was an excellent description of the character.  I believe that Valencia is a woman to inspire. She is the woman that we all wish we were. She speaks her mind and is not afraid to call you on your actions, as she has confronted Rebecca on more than one occasion.  On the surface, she may be viewed as “bitchy,” but she is so much more.

Valencia wants a future with her long-term boyfriend, Josh Chan, and refuses to let anyone (Rebecca) or anything (still talking about you Rebecca) stand in her way.  She exudes confidence and regardless whether she ends up as Mrs. Josh Chan, viewers know that she’ll be okay.

She’s no sinking flower.  I think Valencia’s confidence sends a positive message to television viewers.  For the person watching Crazy Ex Girlfriend seeing a character who is happy with herself may help them to feel better about themselves.  Real power is the ability to believe in yourself.  The so-called “Queen Bees” take their names from the insect that run the hive.

Valencia is “The Queen Bee”of Crazy Ex Girlfriend and until Rebecca takes her example, she’ll always be a drone.
