Saying Goodbye to the “Faemily” #LostGirl Series Finale via @luckynerdgirl

Today is a bittersweet day for me. The series finale of Lost Girl on SyFy channel is tonight and I’m feeling a bit nostalgic over it. I admit I came late to the Fae world but quickly fell in love with the show! I, like so many others I’m sure, binged on episode after episode on Netflix. I couldn’t get enough of that chi-sucking Succubus!

This series has had a way of keeping me completely entertained every single episode. Everything from the funny moments (like pretty much every episode with Kenzie [Ksenia Solo]) to the utter heartbreaking ones (Hale [K.C. Collins] getting killed, Kenzie sacrificing herself, and the reading of Trick’s [Rick Howland] will).

Lost Girl has been a show that transported us into a fantasy world. Making you wonder what the world would be like if there was a secret society of magical creatures living among us. It kind of reminds me of Men in Black but with classic mythological creatures!

While this show has a lot of fantastic male characters, it’s the ladies that shine! So many strong, yet vulnerable female characters to look up to. There’s Bo (Anna Silk) the unaligned Succubus, Kenzie the human (but still amazing), Tamsin (Rachel Skarsten) the warrior Valkyrie, and the list goes on. It has been great to see these women kick ass and not just be another damsel in distress. These ladies can definitely take care of themselves (most of the time).

From one season to the next, Lost Girl has come up with ways of weaving in classic mythology in a way that makes you believe that it truly exists. Creatures like the Valkyrie (Norse figures who take fallen warriors to Valhalla) and Zeus, Hera, and Hades (classic Greek gods) are just some of the mythology that has been used on the show. The Fae prefer to be thought of as myths to keep their world secret from the humans. And they have been doing so for centuries!

I am sad to see the show coming to an end, but like the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end”. It’s been an amazing run and I’m so thankful to the cast of the show. You have done an amazing job at bringing these characters to life and making these stories interesting! Thank you to the writers of the show also, because without you there would be nothing for these amazing actors to bring to life!

My favorites in the show have moved on to bigger and brighter things, but they will always hold a special place in my heart! A very fond farewell to my “faemily”!lost-girls-660
