When it’s Friday the 13th, there’s nothing better than to do a quick ghost hunting trip. Unfortunately, when it’s Friday the 13th, the cops are out like crazy, in my town especially, so I learned last night. You can’t exactly go to graveyards or abandoned houses late at night without a cop shooing you off with a warning “come back and I’ll arrest your butt.” Not that I’ve done this a lot……hehehe.
I started the night out trying to check out the local graveyard. I’ve been waiting to go to it since we moved out here last September. I’ve driven through it, looked at some of the headstones. It’s very old, with headstones dating back to the late 1700’s, and quite large. Upon arriving I noticed I was not the only one with the bright idea of ghost hunting on Friday the 13th. Cops were already sitting up there turning people away. Damn. Ok, not to worry, I’ve got a couple other places.
The high school is haunted, big town legend. I drive 15 minutes to the high school. There are a ton of people there. That’s a bust, ghosties aren’t going to come out and mingle with so many people irritating the hell out of them. I will come back another time, when it’s not so crowded, when I have more of chance of seeing some activity. On to the next place, the haunted trails.
Just as I thought, the trails are packed. Parents have actually brought their children out to ghost hunt. I happen to think children are too sensitive to be ghost hunting, best wait until they’re older, but hey to each their own. This is where I thought about the little abandoned graveyard in Riverview. I’ve seen ghosties there before, it’s perfect. I take off on my 30 minute drive, I am determined to find something dangit.
This graveyard is in the back of a neighborhood, so I felt confident that no one would be there. I pulled down the dark street, I think it’s the only one in the neighborhood without streetlights. I was right, wasn’t a person in sight. I parked up against some trees, grabbed the camera, and hopped out of the car. We had to use small flashlights because it was so damn dark. As we entered and began looking around, a man from a neighboring house came up. He didn’t like us being there and threatened to call the cops if we didn’t leave that very moment. Ugh, why! All I want to do is ghost hunt on Friday the 13th, is that too much to ask????
SPOOK HILL, I’ll go to Spook Hill!! Spook Hill is this place where something weird happens when you pull your car up to a line on the road and put it in neutral. Your car will start rolling backwards down the road. Now, you might say, No Way, the road is on a hill. Don’t let the name fool you one bit! The road is as flat as I’ve ever seen! No matter how many times you pull up to that line and put your car in neutral, as soon as you take your feet off the pedals, BAM your car starts rolling backwards a good 30-50 feet. I took two pictures of the sign that explains the history, one right after the other. Anyone notice the weird black line running down almost the middle of one picture but not the other……creepy!!
I highly recommend anyone living in Florida or visiting Florida, take a drive out to Spook Hill! The occurrence happens day or night, which makes it even better. All you gotta do is Google search Spook Hill Florida and it’ll take you right there. Be careful though, the ghosties around these parts may not be friendly, as they were massacred. Use caution and common sense.

For my next ghost hunting trip, I will be checking out Rosewood Florida, site of a massacre so bad, it destroyed the town, only thing left is a small sign saying the town once was there.
