#CrazyExGirlfriend Josh Speaks Out via @stacyamiller85 @VRodriguezIII @CW_CrazyXGF

On Crazy Ex Girlfriend, Rebecca Bunch’s (Rachel Bloom) pursuit of Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III) has been widely commented on. Rebecca has openly admitted her feelings for him and that he was the reason for her move to West Covina. Josh was involved with long-time girlfriend Valenica (Gabrielle Ruiz) but Rebecca kept turning up in his life.  Now for the first time, Josh speaks out on Rebecca, Valenica, his feelings about everything that transpired and where he thinks his future will led.

Writer’s Note:  The opinions expressed here as Josh Chan’s are entirely the author’s and not that of the writers of Crazy Ex Girlfriend or actor Vincent Rodriguez III, who plays Josh.

Okay, it’s time to set the record straight regarding all the Rebecca/Valencia drama.  I know there are people who may feel that I was insincere in the way I treated Valencia after she devoted sixteen years of her life to me so I want to tell my side of the story.  My name is Josh Chan and here it is.

I met Rebecca Bunch many years ago at camp.  She was such a cool person to hang out with, like one of the guys you know.  But then she started doing that thing that girls do that we guys hate – she started getting clingy. Like, she wanted us to be a couple or something. Hey, it was summer camp. It was supposed to be all about fun not hearts and flowers, boyfriend/girlfriend, lovey/dovey stuff. So, I told Rebecca that I had fun and basically said goodbye- but not in a mean way.

You can imagine my shock when I bumped into Rebecca after all these years. I hadn’t kept in touch with her and had no idea she was living in New York.images (3)

It was even more strange when Rebecca turned up in West Covina shortly thereafter.  What are the odds of seeing someone you haven’t seen in years turn up TWICE in a short amount of time? But of course, she had a seemingly logical explanation. Then, Rebecca meets Valencia and the two become friends.download

Their friendship didn’t last long as Valencia believed Rebecca was AFTER me. That just sounded ridiculous but looking back now, I should have not brushed Valencia off so lightly. Rebecca was suddenly showing up everywhere I was.  She ended up at the Chan family Thanksgiving. And later joined our trip to the beach. That tour bus thing was weird in itself, with the striptease. But then, I learned that Rebecca and my friend Greg had been involved. Why did that bother me so much? I was with Valencia.

But, it wasn’t until the camping trip when I read the letter Rebecca had written to me a long time ago when we were kids that I started seeing her in a different light.  Rebecca was one of the few people who had ALWAYS been in my corner and believed in me.

When Rebecca helps the tenants of the apartment complex fight the landlord in the water case (against her long-time enemy Audra Levine), I realize more about her caring heart. And WE KISSED.

That was bad, so, so bad!  I was with Valencia. How could I have kissed another woman? I also started have my doubts about whether Rebecca had been telling me the truth about her feelings for me.  Especially after the whole break in at her apartment. I found the rock used to break the glass and it matched a rock that Rebecca had as part of a decoration.  Was she lying about the break in?

I came clean with Valencia about the kiss. And she proves what a special person and girlfriend she was by forgiving me.  But unfortunately, now I was torn.  I seemed to be having feelings for both Valencia AND Rebecca. I had to use some dojo time to work through my feelings.images (9)

At my sister’s wedding, both Valencia and I realized our relationship was over. I loved Valencia, but we wanted different things. I hope she will be happy.  I told Rebecca how I felt about her.  But a comment she made about being glad about moving to West Covina makes me wonder whether she DID plan this whole thing and if Valencia was right the whole time.  I don’t know what will happen between Rebecca and me.
