Nashville has been cancelled by ABC and aired its series finale on May 25.
However, the series could possibly be revived for next season on another network. There are rumors that Liongate is currently in talks with CMT to air the fifth season on that network.
Tennessee Mayor Megan Barry posted this message on her Official Twitter account:
No announcement on whether the deal has been finalized yet but the support the series is receiving from Liongate and the interest of CMT gives fans reason to hope. But an announcement could be made during the CMT Music Awards on June 8.
Actor Charles Esten, who plays Deacon said in a recent interview with The Tennessean “Lionsgate is still in discussions that we might end up getting to make another season somewhere else,” Esten said. “I’m extremely grateful for the four years that we had at ABC and that’s how we got to be what we are. But Lionsgate doesn’t feel, and we don’t feel that all the stories are told or all the songs are sung yet. So it’s very possible. There’s still some negotiations and they’re talking to people and we could find out any time. I have no inside knowledge, but I do know there’s still a chance.”
After the events of the finale, it would be great to see what happens next.
