It seems like just yesterday viewers were watching the dramatic events of Season 11 unfold in the Supernatural Season Finale “Alpha and Omega” on May 25.

Less than two months later on Tuesday, July 12, the cast return to the Vancouver set of Supernatural to begin filming Season 12. Usually, the show starts filming with the third episode of the season which in seasons past, has been directed by series star Jensen Ackles.  However, it has been indicated that Ackles will not be directing that episode.  So instead, production will start with the season premiere episode titled “Keep Calm and Carry On.”

When last we left the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) was instrumental in helping to patch up the sibling relationship between God (Rob Benedict) and his estranged sister Amara (Emily Swallow), The Darkness. Amara was so grateful that she promised to give to Dean “the one thing he wanted most.” Cut to the last scene of the finale, Dean is shocked to come face-to-face with his deceased mother Mary (Samantha Smith).

Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) was confronted by Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore) from the London Branch of The Men of Letters who stated that she’d come to bring him in for all his destructive actions over the years. Refusing to go along quietly, Sam walks towards her and then…bang.  Has Sam been shot?

“Keep Calm and Carry On” is certainly the perfect title for the season premiere as it seems that Sam and Dean Winchester will have to ‘carry on wayward sons.’  What will we learn about Lady Toni? And why is Mary really back?

Filming may be starting, but we still have three whole months to wait before learning the answers!
