Creation Entertainment’s Salute to Supernatural is taking place this weekend in Minnesota. Thousands of fans from across the country will be attending to see their favorite actors from the show they love, participate in events and mingle with each other.

As someone who has only attended one Supernatural convention on General Admission, Salute to Supernatural in Cherry Hill, NJ in 2009, I know how great the convention experience can be.  Although mine didn’t include autographs or photo ops and was only for one day, I cherish the memory.  I still smile at the prize I helped win for my trivia team ( The three of us each got a $150 Creation Gift Certificate in which I used to buy merchandise at the convention).  This was also the first convention ever attended be Misha Collins, (Castiel) who was in awe that the turn out was so large.

I want to thank everyone involved for helping to put the conventions together.  But I want to especially thank all the actors who give up their weekends to attend. Their support of the series and fans show as they work to create a happy time for convention attendees. I can’t even imagine speaking in front of a crowd of thousands as well as posing for countless photographs with strangers. Yes, we love the show and the actors and sometimes feel as if we know them, but we aren’t close personal friends even though their warmth in their greetings makes it feel that way.

On occasion, there have been convention missteps, those fans who have crossed the line but the Supernatural actors continue to show us how gracious they are.

I don’t know whether I’ll ever attend another Supernatural convention, but I will continue to enjoy the experience thanks to the magic of social media.

To everyone who works tirelessly to make the conventions happen, thank you. To all the vendors, thank you. And a special shout out to Attitudes In Reverse, an organization that continues to spread its strong message in support of mental health related issues, thank you. AIR is a frequent convention attendee and a positive presence at Supernatural conventions.
