#Wentworth S4 Perceptions Bea, Vera, Ferguson via @stacyamiller85 @Wentworth

Wentworth Season 4 is available on Netflix and the most difficult challenge of a fan is finding the time to binge all twelve episodes in one viewing.

I just found out on August 20 about Wentworth Season 4 being on Netflix.  I was beyond excited to learn this and although I would have wanted to binge more episodes in one sitting, I was only able to watch the first two as I started Season 4, Episode 1 at 12:00AM (on August 21) and stopped Episode 2 at 1:46AM. But in just watching these two episodes, I can already see what an emotionally packed season this going to turn out to be and can’t wait.

This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen Episode 1 “First Blood” and Episode 2 “Poking Spiders” please do not continue reading.

After the fire that destroyed a portion of the prison, Wentworth Correctional has re-opened and prisoners Bea, Maxine, Doreen, Liz and Boomer are returning “home”. Vera Bennett is now the Governor and there are pamplets indicating “The New Wentworth” as she has made changes that she hopes will make the institution more beneficial towards the women’s rehabilitation. The one thing Vera didn’t count on was Joan Ferguson being transferred to Wentworth Correctional pending her trial. In watching the exchange between the two, it’s obvious that despite the fact that she is now a prisoner, Ferguson still sees herself as superior to Vera. She doesn’t respect Vera’s position as Governor, looking at her as a parent would a child playing dress-up.  Vera Bennett will always be that timid little mouse. Ferguson assures Vera that SHE will be taking those Governor stripes back from her.

Top dog Bea Smith has a rival for head hound, Kaz Proctor.  Kaz sees Bea as someone who was once one of them but betrayed everything Red Right Hand stood for. The Bea/Kaz relationship is similar to Vera/Ferguson in that the antagonists (Kaz and Ferguson) believe that they are the true ones in charge. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top as the season develops.

One character who is not currently part of the inner prison drama is Franky Doyle.  As viewers remember, Franky was paroled at the end of Season 3 and is making a life for herself on the outside. This includes resuming her romance with Bridget Westfall and finding gainful employment. Franky also learns that she has a 3-year-old half sister. Her life is definitely different and for her getting used to these changes will be a challenge. Can Franky have a productive life on the outside or will she return to her old ways?

At the end of Episode 2, Ferguson was being released into General Population after Bea and Vera struck a deal – In exchange for no harm coming to Ferguson at the hands of the other prisoners, Vera agreed to the women’s demand for conjugal visits. But the catch was that every woman who participated had to agree to taking preventive measures against pregnancy.  This put a wrench in Boomer’s dream of having a baby. And speaking of babies, Doreen decided that Joshua would be better off with his newly released father, Nash instead of living with her behind bars.

These stories and more await viewers as they begin their Wentworth Season 4 journey on Netflix.
