I’m on a roll with Netflix. I just recently watched The Loft with Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller, Eric Stonestreet, and Matthias Schoenaerts. It was not what I was expecting at all after watching the trailer. This article will contain some spoilers, but not all. And as a warning, the trailer in this article may NOT be appropriate for all viewers.
The movie begins with five men in a loft and a girl handcuffed to the bed, dead. All of them are freaking out, wondering how the hell she got in there. Everyone is questioning each other about who knows her, who let her in, who still has their key to the loft. Next thing everyone is at the police station being questioned.

Through a series of flashbacks that come up with no warnings, the story unfolds. Vincent (Urban) is an architect who was working on a new high class penthouse building downtown. At the opening he talks his friends into sharing one of the penthouses, to carry on extra martial affairs, a dream come true for any cheating man.
This movie flips back and forth so much from present to past it gets really confusing. I mean a quick “Remember the night when” could have made the transition between present and past much less confusing. Anyhow, it goes on to show you some of the affairs these men have. A couple of the affairs get more serious than others. They show you the men and their wives and some of their married life.
Then back to the fateful morning of the dead girl. Turns out one of them is having an affair with her, but insists when he left her, she was alive. Only the five of them know about the loft, only the five of them have keys. The killer is one of them. Suspicions are raised as everyone suspects each other. Secrets are deep and come out as friendships are broken, loyalties are tested, marriages fall apart while trying to figure out who killed this poor girl. Just when you think you have it figured out and all secrets are out, you actually get surprised by the ending.
It wasn’t that bad of a movie. Not a bad plot. Like I said though, it does get rather confusing with all the jumping back and forth without warning. I found myself asking a few times what night was what in the movie. It definitely could have been done better. I feel like they could have done without the flashbacks and just gave us a straightforward movie and it probably would have been a lot better.
Just remember, cheaters always get caught! 😉
