The adventure continued on this week’s Shannara Chronicles. Picking up where episode two left off, Shannara keeps up with the action.
We pick up with a winged demon looming over Wil and Amberle, who’s holding a tiny sword in hand. Allanon comes running up beheading the Fury (the winged demon), only to receive a huge wound on his side, which he hides from the elves, as they make their way back to the castle.

Allanon tells Amberle all the other chosen were murdered. This helps the young elves bond, since they both have suffered sorrows. Wil tells Amberle he was afraid of the demon, Amberle confides in him she’s afraid to return to Arborlon. Allanon’s wound is too severe and he collapses. He has Wil and Amberle take him to a Druid cave, he tells them they must leave him and continue to Arborlon. Wil, wanting to be a healer, decides he’s going to Silver River to get the mud, for it has healing properties that could save Allanon.
Amberle goes along with Wil to the river. Along the way they start getting to know one another. He doesn’t understand why Allanon chose him to be Amberle’s protector. She tells him, his ears turn red when he lies. This leads him to confess he is part of the Shannara bloodline. Though Amberle is impressed by the royal blood, he insists he’s no warrior, no magic runs through his veins. He plans on bailing as soon as Allanon is healed and the princess is safe in the palace.
They arrive at Silver River, Wil dives in to get the mud. Upon surfacing, Amberle is no where to be seen. Dun dun dun. He gets out and what does he see. Eretria with a knife to the princess’ neck. This time she has back up. At this point Wil and Amberle learn they both have met Eretria before. Eretria and her backup don’t heed the warnings from the elves about the demons coming, instead she takes them back to the Rover camp.

Amberle’s quite perturbed that Wil fell for the seduction trick of a Rover, he tries to deny his attraction to Eretria, however the princess points out, his ears are red.
Back in the cave, some red magic goes on and BAM Allanon is healed. Guess Wil should have just listened and gone back to Arborlon with the princess. Someone people just won’t listen. But in all fairness, had Allanon told Wil what was up, he might just have done what he was told.
In the Rover camp, Eretria’ s “father”, Cephelo, makes her out to be not so smart, ignores Wil about the demons….come on people, not everything is a fairytale, my goodness you’re talking to an elf for crying out loud…and asks Wil to become a part of his Rover family. Cephelo swears elves drove the Rovers from their homes, leaving them no choice but to steal. He tries to play on Wil being a half breed, telling Wil he’d be accepted there.
Of course Cephelo isn’t being completely upfront. He’s using Eretria to threaten Amberle’s life in exchange for the secret on how to unlock the elfstones magic. After that, he wants Eretria to actually kill the princess. This doesn’t sit well with Eretria, but if she won’t do it, then he’ll kill her.. Eretria goes to Amberle, tells her what her “father’s” plan is, and gives her a chance to get the hell out of there. Instead, Amberle headbutts Eretria, then holds a knife to her neck.
In the middle of the camp, Wil tells Cephelo he doesn’t want to join the Rovers. Amberle then emerges with Eretria at knife point. She tries to make a deal for Eretria’s life but this sparks laughter from the Rovers, which allows Eretria to get the upper hand. Wil surrenders, Cephelo hands him the elfstones and tells him to make with the magic. Though Wil has no idea how to use them.

All of the sudden a Fury flies in and starts ravaging people. The elfstones begin to glow in Wil’s hand, and all heroically he stands over Amberle and Eretria and extends his hand to the sky. After a minute, light travels up his arm, his eyes glow, and power shoots from his closed fist, killing the Fury. He then passes out and his hand is completely burned. Allanon told you there was a price when using magic….
Cephelo tries to strangle Amberle, however, Allanon shows up, bounces Cephelo around, then gets the elves to safety. Once everything is over at the camp, Eretria packs up to leave. Her “father” tells her she can’t leave, that elfstones equal freedom. Watch out Wil, you haven’t seen the last of Eretria.
Allanon tends to Wil, who is still unconscious and talks with Amberle. She keeps blaming herself for what has happened. Allanon tells her, she and Wil share a Destiny, that that what is happening, isn’t happening because of her, but rather to her. Wil awakens and Allanon jumps on him for not going to Arborlon. Wil’s I’m feeling fine, thanks, was just great.
And away they go, on their journey back to Arborlon, that is until they come upon a field full of dead animals. Oh damn, the farmers are dead too. Wil ralphs everywhere. They hear something in the barn behind a padlocked door. Wil doesn’t think they should open it, but Amberle could care less about what he thinks and breaks it open anyway. On the inside is a masked dude chained up. Amberle frees him, learns his name is Bandon, and just says his parents locked him up because he was different, not really giving a reason. He tells the trio he could hear his parents die but he couldn’t save them. Amberle confronts him and insists they take him to Arborlon with them. Allanon can’t hear Bandon’s thoughts and attributes that to him either hiding magic or not knowing he has magic running through him.

The party arrives in Arborlon….finally. Amberle has to see if the Ellcrys will allow her to take it’s seed to Safehold so it can be reborn. Before she can do that, she must face the Council. She abandoned her duties as one of the Chosen, and must be given permission to return.
Now that they’re back in Arborlon, Wil tells Amberle he is leaving. She’s obviously disappointed but gives him a smile and says goodbye. Allanon is not happy about Wil’s decision, but Wil let’s him know he will not end up like his father. As Wil is leaving, Bandon tells him, that if he leaves, Amberle will die. Bandon has visions of people he touches death, yay, what a fun gift….said no one.
Amberle’s council meeting isn’t going well. Her and Allanon tell them of the demon attacks and the Codex instructions. Amberle’s uncle tries to put the Council against her, Allanon, and his father, continuing with his magic isn’t real speak. Wil busts in and ol’ Uncle Arion tries to have him removed, but Allanon steps in and let’s Arion and the rest of the Council know real quick, that Wil is the last son of Shannara and technically royalty. The King then orders for Wil to be allowed to speak.
Wil goes on to speak about magic, demons, and the bravery of Amberle. He coats it on real thick, which totally works. Smiles and happiness. Allanon gives the elfstones back to Wil, saying they belong to him.
Amberle’s allowed back at the tree. This is where they see if she’s worthy to retrieve and carry the seed. If she fails, she lives no more.

She is asked if she is willing to enter the tree. Yes. She places her hand on the tree and a door swings open with some bright light. She steps in…..
Until next week
