#Wentworth – Jess Warner’s Obsession Leads To Point of No Return @GeorgiaLChara @Wentworth

I just finished the last episode of Season 3 of the brilliant prison drama Wentworth and I’m still riveted by what I watched.  But instead of discussing the specifics of the end of the season epsiode, I’d like to focus on one character who played a part in the excitement of the finale, Jess Warner.

This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen Wentworth, please do not continue reading.

Jess Warner is a young girl that enters Wentworth Prison with emotional issues. She is a rabbit compared to the other wolves behind bars.

She develops an interest/crush on guard Matthew Fletcher who is nice to her and also an obsession with Doreen Anderson after Doreen becomes pregnant. This is based on her own troubled past with babies.

I believe that Jess was never given the proper medical treatment for her mental problems which escalated.  Her obsession with Doreen’s baby pushed her over the edge and led to her downfall. She was responsible for Liz, an alcoholic, falling off the wagon by leaving booze under Liz’s pillow in her cell.  She wanted to be the person Doreen turned to for baby care assistance.

But Jess also wanted to be accepted.  She was constantly trying to prove herself to Bea Smith and Franky Doyle, often helping them with their dirty work i.e. stealing Matt Fletcher’s key card so Bea could use in her escape (let’s not even talk about the drugs from the toilet!).

On a downward spiral, Jess drugged Doreen and kidnapped baby Joshua. She met her demise at the hands of psycho Governor Joan Ferguson.

Poor Jess, such potential snuffed out. A young life wasted.
