#Galavant – Dragons and Giants and Dwarves…Oh My @Omundson @joshuasasse @GalavantABC

There’s nothing sweeter than a boy and his pet dog. Er, make that a King and his pet dragon/lizard as seen in Galavant.

This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen the Galavant episodes “Giants vs Dwarves” and “About Last Night”, please do not continue reading.

Galavant and King Richard are still on their quest but realize they need assistance.  Galavant decided that they should ask the local giants.  He’s furious when instead of bringing back “the big guys”, King Richard returns with a little lizard, which he names Tad Cooper.  Couldn’t it had least been a fire breathing dragon? Galavant is tired of Richard and the two separate (say it isn’t so!).

Galavant locates the giants who turn out not to be that gigantic. “We’re tiny giants”. He joins them as the giants go off for a talk meeting with the dwarves, who aren’t small. “we’re tall dwarves”. Galavant writers, you’re brilliant.  The dwarves have their representative speak for them. It’s Richard.  He and Galavant vent their issues with each other and the peace talks hit a snag. Roberta gets things back on track.  Never send a man to do what a woman can do better!

Meanwhile, in Hortencia, Isabella meets an “untraditional princess” who hasn’t RSVPd yet for her wedding. This princess isn’t singing cutesy songs with cartoon animals joining in.

Isabella also realizes her wedding planner is doing more than planning her wedding and banishes him.  The wedding planner meets up with Sid, who is also banished by Madalena.

Galavant is like this huge Broadway show on television so I especially enjoyed the takes on musical numbers from West Side Story, Oliver (when we meet Galavant’s father Arthur and his group of troubled boys/orphans) and Les Miserables.

Episode 6 “About Last Night” ended with an unexpected cliffhanger that put a hero in jeopardy (sorry no spoilers).

It is a pity that Galavant is only slated for five weeks as it’s highly entertaining television.
