Review of The Would-Be Prince of Darkness from @kleffnotes

The third episode of Lucifer aired last night and while the show is just plain sexy, this week’s had a little bit of extra sex thrown in. Lucifer winds up convincing a big time football player named Ty to have sex with a beautiful girl at a party. Now normally you’d think that sounds fine, fancy LA party tons of sex, right? Well not this time.

It turns out that our football boy is a virgin and has been saving himself for marriage, or at least until he thought he was going to marry the girl. He’s just split up with his former girlfriend and with a bit of Lucifer’s hinting decides to go after a girl who has been hitting on him all night. Well, while Lucifer winds up having a lovely night in the guest room with a possible harem of women, Ty wakes up to find his late night hookup floating dead in the pool. He asks Lucifer to help him out, and Chloe is soon on the scene. She though is a bit miffed that Lucifer called her instead on 911. Mostly because she isn’t his private police concierge, her words.

Now besides a dead girl in a pool and a devirginized prime suspect, Lucifer is also dealing with a surprise case of stolen identity. It seems that someone has been going around doing ridiculous things like staying at Budget Inns and eating at Zany Wings with his credit card. Besides that whoever is pretending to be Lucifer is having mediocre sex and using a fake accent, which leads to some very harsh insults from an unimpressed woman. Maze thinks this entire situation is hilarious and literally snorts when she has to say Zany Wings. It’s wonderful!

Chloe begrudgingly uses some of Lucifer’s help on the murder case, though a lot of his investigating is done surreptitiously. He beats her to a few scenes and starts asking questions that a detective definitely wouldn’t ask. It gets revealed that our lady of the pool was actually a set up, she was paid to have sex with Ty, or at least make it look like she did. She had filmed the two of them together, which Lucifer wound up showing to Chloe. The case evolves from just a simple hookup to blackmail, which involves some pretty heavy hitters. Lucifer also winds up using someone involved in the case to help him deal with his little Lucifake problem. All in all everything works out, except for the fact that Dr. Linda thinks Lucifer might actually be seeking justice for the victims and not just punishment for the criminals. Oh and Maze still thinks Lucifer is going soft.

The writing on this show is absolutely fantastic and if you aren’t watching it yet you are missing out on something amazing. You definitely need to check it out. Episodes are up on the Fox website and new ones air every Monday at 9 pm est.
