#BuffyLiveTweet Season One Recap from @kleffnotes

Late last night/early this morning I finished my live tweet of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season One and I thought I’d do a quick recap of some things that happened in the first season of the show. Now I’ve been a fan of Buffy for years, but I haven’t rewatched some of the seasons in a while so watching season one was a nice refresher. Now to the recap!

Alright so season one is the season of terrible crushes and awkward teenage angstiness. Buffy arrives in Sunnydale and Xander is instantly crushing, while Willow has an intense crush on Xander. It’s not really a love triangle because Buffy see Xander as a love interest, she’s hardcore crushing on Angel, even after she found out he was a vampire. Just needed to learn about that broody soul thing and she was hooked. Cordelia totally thinks all the Scoobies are nerds, but in the episode with the invisible girl she actually starts to connect with Buffy. Totally leading up to her Scooby Gang inclusion.

Now Giles is a super stuffed shirt in this first season, but he gradually starts to chill out, also totally crushing on Jenny, who I forgot actually got introduced in season one. It’s so cute to see the two of them flirting. Angel was way snippier this season too. He definitely sounded a bit like Angelus when he was sort of flirting with Buffy, but maybe I was just getting super excited for season two and was over thinking it.

The Master is a delightful villain, I mean he doesn’t care about anyone, well except Darla, whose death he totally didn’t handle well at all. I mean she was cool, but hey, keep an eye out for the return of the Catholic School Girl vampire. I totally don’t get the point of The Anointed One though, I mean prophecy and all, but that kid seems kind of useless to me.

Alright so we get bug lady, demon in the computer, and Owen the adrenaline junkie as terrible dating events this season. I mean it’s Xander’s first messed up monster hookup, it’s a milestone. The creepiest episode for me though is The Talent Show. I’m sorry I know Sid is a good guy, but he’s a freaking dummy and he creeps the crap out of me. It’s not his fault, those wooden eyes, the creepy movements, I can’t! I was wigging out the entire episode.

The finale of this season, Prophecy Girl, might actually be the saddest finale, excluding season seven because things happen that hurt my vampire loving heart. The reason it feels so sad is that Buffy honestly thinks she’s going to die. In later seasons she is the confident, we’ll do this slayer, but this first season she is afraid of dying and breaks down when she hears Giles and Angel talking about her prophesied death. I actually felt worried for her, even though I knew she was going to live. Though Xander totally saved the day, I mean he went looking for her and did CPR. I kind of want to give this apocalypse win to him.
