Why Fans Go to @CreationEnt Cons via @stacyamiller85 #HousCon #SPNFamily

With Creation’s Salute to Supernatural convention in Houston taking place this weekend, it made me think about the reasons fans attend conventions.

Sure the chance to see your favorite actors in person is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Too great to pass up. Plus, being able to get a photograph with them or their autograph, is a dream come true.

But, I believe it is more than just that. A fandom is a group of fans who are united by their love for something and form a kingdom.  Supernatural has a huge fandom.  These loyal lovers of Sam and Dean Winchester and anything Supernatural related will spend thousands upon thousand of dollars for the get togethers.

In addition to the above mentioned reasons, I also think people attend Supernatural conventions for a chance to meet face-to-face fellow fans like themselves who share their passion for the show. Most of the time, these people have talked online and have built a friendship.  So the chance to meet a person or people you’ve developed a relationship with is a major draw of conventions.

Fandom friends will coordinate schedules and try to buy their tickets at the same time to sit near each other.  They will sometimes go to lunch or dinner outside of convention events and maybe even split the cost by sharing a hotel room together.  Basically, conventions are like reunions but with hundreds of extended family members.

If given the chance, I think people should make a point to attend a Supernatural convention.  It will be an experience you’ll never forget and you’ll connect with old friends and make some new ones.
