I was sadden to hear of the passing of Pulitzer Prize winning author Harper Lee. I remember seeing the film To Kill a Mockingbird with my mom way before I read the book as a high school freshman.

Nelle Harper Lee, winner of the 1961 Pulitzer Prize in fiction for “To Kill a Mockingbird,” passed away in her sleep this morning at the age of 89 according to her family.

Harper Lee shaped the face of literature with her thoughtful works with her novels being read and enjoyed for generations.

She will surely be missed.
