The 100 delivered a shocking blow to fans of the show in the latest episode “Thirteen.”

Heda is dead.
The character of Lexa had a huge impact on the show and fans of The 1oo. Viewers were drawn to the character because of her strength in handling difficult decisions. She was a young woman who lived in a world where loyalty and survival were the key factors of existence. Lexa commanded a large force of people and earned their respect. She didn’t have a traditional home and family. Her people served as both.
When she meets Clarke, Lexa immediately sees similarities between them. But she also thought that Clarke’s emotions limited her from being an effective ruler. She advised that Clarke put her pain deep inside herself and if Clarke suffered a loss, mourning should be quick and then she should move on. Lexa knew about loss. She used it as part of her armor in helping her fight battles.
It was inevitable that she and Clarke would develop an understanding, that led to an attraction. Love is often found in war. Lexa and Clarke’s relationship brought out the good in both. Because of Clarke, Lexa learned to trust more and allowed feelings and compassion to come to the surface. For Clarke, knowing Lexa gave her the courage to make hard choices to protect her people.
Kudos to the writers of The 100 for creating the character of Lexa. Because of her depth, Lexa earned a legion of supporters onscreen and off. Actress Alycia Debnam-Carey deserves the highest accolades for bring Lexa to live and making her character we cared about. Fans of The 100 offer thanks to her and she’ll forever have a place in our hearts.
