Last night was the first night of Devil’s Night with The Nerdy Girl Express with Erica and I live tweeting Lucifer on Fox and Damien on A&E back to back. I’m our resident Lucifan, so while Erica will be recapping the Damien premier, I present to you my recap of the latest Lucifer episode, Wingman.
Last week Lucifer revealed to us that his wings had been stolen and this week we joined him on his hunt to get them back. Now our lovely Lucifer wouldn’t be able to suss out the perpetrator without some help from a couple of the amazing ladies in his life, and his angelic brother. We got to see Maze seduce a man into a hot and sexy hot tub, which turned into something a bit less hook up and a heck of a lot more beat down. Maze used her feminine wiles, and a heavy dose of water to try and get some information out of a lowlife named Sergei. Lucifer totally torture blocked her, and decided that they should try a different route.

Detective Chloe Decker is facing her own problems, with her continued investigation into the Palmetto case she has been practically shunned by all other cops, except for Detective Douche, umm Dan. It turns out that the detective that she’s been investigating is going to be taken off of life support and Dan thinks she should either solve the case before his death or just let it go. Chloe dives into the case, and Lucifer says that he’ll help her if she’ll help him. After an APB is put out for his wings, Lucifer and Dan both wind up working to help Chloe reexamine the events of the night she can’t forget.

Lucifer has also asked for help from his brother, Amenadiel, because he desperately wants to track down his wings. When Amenadiel learns that Luci has lost his wings he freaks out just a little bit, but in a very reserved angelic manner of course. Chloe’s APB alerts Lucifer that his wings are up for auction, with a number of fraudulent holy relics, and while he could wait 30 days to collect the wings after the illegal auction is raided by the police, he decides to crash it instead. We get to see not only Lucifer in a fabulous tux, but Amenadiel too, when he decides not to let Lucifer go alone. The two of them are able to get into the auction, with a flash of Lucifer’s coin and the promise to shell out a lot of cash. When the cops appear, Lucifer attempts to get his wings back and finds out that he’s been tricked. The wings up for auction are knockoffs.

Enraged by this trick, the retired ruler of Hell tracks down the man who stole his wings. It turns out that our capitalist obsessed auction runner suddenly found faith after seeing the wings. He refuses to part with them until Lucifer uses his dark powers to get them back. The next we see him and his wings he’s sitting on the beach, but when Amenadiel arrives he sets them ablaze.

With all of this going on we jump back to Chloe and Dan, the two of them are at the living memorial for the detective whose life support will soon be turned off. Chloe gives a touching speech about how the man was a great cop who was injured doing what they all do. After the speech, we learn that she’s there to figure out which person there could be a dirty cop, who used a secret passageway at Palmetto Street to shot the other cop. At Lux Lucifer tells Maze that while he can’t leave Earth that she still can, she insists that she will stay with him. As Lucifer and Chloe bond we see that Maze has a feather hidden away from Lucifer’s wings. That would already be an intense way to end the episode, but we get one more crazy moment. At the hospital as the doctor is turning off the cop’s life support he suddenly comes back to life, which he can apparently thank Amenadiel for.
I missed Dr. Linda and Trixie in this episode, but D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel got way more screen time and he was wonderful. He was both hilarious and intense, I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in later episodes. Also my money is totally on the cop whose been in the hospital’s partner as being the dirty cop who shot him. As always the rest of the cast was wonderful and I can’t wait until next week.
