#Gotham Wrath of the Villains: A Dead Man Feels No Cold via @luckynerdgirl

This week’s episode of Gotham gave me the “chills”! Sorry, I just had to. This week’s episode opened up with a slew of cops surrounding Ace Chemicals. Yes, that’s right! That good old familiar Ace Chemicals where all the villains in Batman somehow end up! Warning for spoilers, spoilers, spoilers ahead.

All of the security officers are dead and when Jim and Harvey follow the trail of frozen bodies, it leads to where the liquid helium is being stored. Inside the freezer is a message that simply says “FREE MY WIFE”! I think we can all guess what Victor Fries is going to be up to next.

Meanwhile, we get to see Bruce Wayne again. Since his horrific kidnapping/near death experience, Bruce and Alfred have been spending time in their chalet in Switzerland. Ah the good life. Lee comes over at the request of Alfred to check up on Bruce. He seems off, but then he is kind of a weird kid. He tells Lee that he is fine even though nobody believes it. After she has left, Bruce then takes out all of his frustrations on a poor heavy bag. Geeze, what did the bag ever do to you Bruce! Alfred has news for Master Wayne and we find out who M. Malone is. Wayne is determined to find him and kill the man who killed his parents. Alfred on the other hand, is not keen on the idea of little Master Wayne ruining himself by killing this Malone. Since there is no convincing him to turn away from this endeavor, Alfred agrees to help him on one condition: Alfred will kill Malone, not Bruce.

Back at the police station, Captain Barnes is less than happy with Victor’s plan to come get his wife back. So they decide to transfer Nora to Arkham Asylum so she can get the medical care she needs, but be in a “safer” location. When Lee finds out about this, she is furious with Jim. Jim tells her that is the least bad choice out of all the bad choices. Sounds kind of like this years election. Lee states that she will accompany Nora to Arkham since she is Lee’s patient. Jim is absolutely against it since she is currently pregnant with his baby. Lee isn’t having it though. She’s a strong willed woman who is definitely going to make her own decisions.

Speaking of Arkham, lets talk about Doctor Strange and his Emporium of Creepy! What in the world is he doing down there at Indian Hill. We still don’t know, but whatever he is up to, it certainly can’t be good. We next see Penguin being brought into a room with a scary looking chair in the middle of it. They start to strap him into said chair when he tells Ms. Peabody to make the right choice. Sorry Penguin, it’s a bit tough to be intimidating when your strapped head to toe to a chair. Whatever “treatment” they give Penguin has had a definite effect on him. He seems bona fide crazy now. Doctor Strange looks on in amusement and I think it’s safe to say that he’s conducting experiments on the patients there at Arkham. As Lee brings Nora into Arkham’s medical wing, Nora talks to her about Victor. How he really is a good man and that he’s doing all of this because of her illness. She says she saw him going down this path, but didn’t stop him because she loved him. The wheels in Lee’s head are beginning to turn as she makes some comparisons to her own relationship with Jim.

Outside by the front gate at Arkham, the GCPD prepares for Victor Fries arrival. They see large truck barreling down at them at a high rate of speed. When it crashes, they open the door to see a man, whose arms are frozen to the steering wheel, instead of Victor. He pulled a good ol’ Texas Switch! Meanwhile, as the police are running around chasing their tails, Victor freezes a wall and breaks into the asylum. As he searches for where they are keeping his wife, gates and doors keep opening up. Victor looks up and sees security cameras. He’s getting help from above from none other than Doctor Strange! He leads him to a room that has an intercom system where he tells him that he will help him escape with his wife in exchange for a canister of his cryo formula. Victor agrees and takes the help. He finds Nora, but she is not doing well at all. Lee says she will go with them to help make sure that she stays stable.

Fries goes back to his home where this all started so he can freeze Nora and put her in a cryogenics canister. As long as she is technically alive, she will be a ward of the state. It’s very sad but sweet how devoted he is to his wife. He loves her so very much and he has hope that he can cure her disease. Nora asks Victor to get her necklace that he gave her for their first anniversary. While he is gone, she switches out the canister with a different formula. After he freezes her, she begins to shatter. In Romeo and Juliet fashion, Victor freezes himself so that he doesn’t have to live in a world without his love. Jim later gets a call after everything is said and done saying that Victor Fries “dies” in Arkham infirmary. Yeah, like we all believe that after the flashes of what Doctor Strange is up to. Sure enough, Victor Fries wakes up in Indian Hill and is dramatically changed. He is now the “Mr. Freeze” we all know so well!

The episode ends with Penguin once again being given his “treatment” and then the camera pans to a room full of giant specimen tanks. These tanks are full of bodies. Some of whom we definitely recognize: Theo Galavan and Joker just to name a few. Can’t wait to see what Doctor Strange has in store for said bodies! Until next week!
