Maybe it was Fate.  Actress Katie Walder, who played the character of Fate in The CW’s Supernatural episode “My Heart Will Go On” has been cast in the ABC comedy pilot Square Roots.

Square Roots is written and executive produced by Vijal Patel.

Katie Walder is remembered by Gilmore Girls fans for her role as Rory and Paris’ health conscious roomate, Janet.  She has also appeared on Grimm, Rules of Engagment, Mad Men, Without a Trace, CSI Miami and several other television series.

The series will also star Adhir Kaylan, Noureen DeWulf, Bernard White and Nina Wadia.

Walder will play the character of Ruth, who is the wife of Adhir Kaylan’s character, Dan as well as the mother of their two children.

Katie Walder is well equipped to handle a comedic role from playing Shannon on How I Met Your Mother.
