Fans of former One Tree Hill star Chad Michael Murray should be happy to learn that the actor will be playing the founder of Sun Records, Sam Phillips, who helped to establish the music careers of Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley among others in a  new CMT scripted drama. Described by CMT as “a coming-of-age story set in Memphis during the tumultuous early days of the civil rights movement.”  Viewers will getting to see the stories of the young artists of the early rock ‘n roll era.  The series is based on the musical Million Dollar Quartet.

Although known for his role as Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill, Chad Michael Murray has recently appeared in Scream Queens and Agent Carter.

The cast also includes Drake Milligan as Elvis Presley, Kevin Fonteyne as Johhny Cash, Jennifer Holland playing Becky Phillips, the wife of Murray’s character Sam and Christian Lees as Jerry Lee Lewis.
