What the #iZombie Fandom Means to Me from @kleffnotes

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the iZombie pilot airing on The CW, which got me thinking about how much this particular fandom means to me. Now I fangirl about a lot of things, but the brainies of iZombie have helped me do so many things that I thought I would write something to show how much this group means to me.

When the first season of iZombie aired I thought it looked like fun and decided that I would live tweet along. Well, after that first episode I was hooked. I tuned in every week, but not only did I live tweet, I interacted with other fans as they watched too. Now I had live tweeted before, but this group seemed to be more talkative and everyone just seemed excited to find fellow fans to share their love of this new show with. Each week I started buying and sharing photos of spicy snacks I was eating during the episodes and then one day I decided to try my hand at making something brainy. It was something super easy, The Brain Freeze. Now if you’ve been keeping up with my brainy creations you will know that this was the start of something much larger. Now I make brainy treats every time an episode airs, and sometimes extra ones when the hunger strikes me. You can find all of my recipes on the iZombie Support Group site.

While I made more recipes I also got up the nerve to start my blog, kleffnotes.wordpress.com, and to do a lot more stuff online. I did some Periscopes because I wanted to be able to interact with the cool people I was meeting through iZombie on Twitter. I might not do them anymore, but those live streams are what helped me realize that I wanted to create a YouTube channel, it’s kleffnotes there like it is in my blog and on Twitter. Not only did I start to grow online and embrace actually sharing myself with other people in a more open way I found myself making new friends I never would have found otherwise. The iZombie Obsessed Twitter account was part of what helped us all to find each other.

I joined live tweets hosted by iZombie Nation and spent nights watching movies with people who not only accepted me, but also inspired me and helped push me to do more. I also met friends who have enriched my life tremendously. I talk with a number of people that I met through the fandom almost every day, including Jonathan who runs all the iZombie Support Group stuff. Besides Jon, I also spend time talking with the two women that I had the pleasure to co-found this very site with. Erica and Erin have helped me to become more creative and have helped me to see all the things that I can do. Without iZombie I never would have become a part of this amazing site, which I am grateful for every day of my life. There are so many other amazing people that I have met and that I interact with and I’m sorry I haven’t mentioned all of you specifically. Please know that I appreciate all of you, and that I am so glad to have connected with you through this fandom. I’m also really afraid I will forget people if I try to list everybody because there are so many of you.

  1. Beautifully expressed. The iZombie fandom holds a special place in my heart as it also allowed me to meet all the great people (like yourself) at The Nerdy Girl Express.

  2. I don’t know where I would be or what I would be doing without you guys and I never want to find out. I feel the same that meeting all of you has really helped me expand my horizons and creativity.
